The SPACE Three Peaks Challenge 2010 This is the challenge of a lifetime and will require participants to climb the 3 highest peaks in the home nations: Scotland, England and Wales. Tackling Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon and doing it all in the space of 24 hours. You will travel a total distance of around 42km, and ascend 3000 metres. This is a tough event and people participating should have the necessary fitness and also be prepared to do without sleep! We aim to complete the mountains in a time of 12.5 hours - Ben Nevis in 5 hours, Scafell Pike in 4 hours and Snowdon in 3.5 hours, however this will depend upon the speed of the group. The overall trip takes longer than 12.5 hours as you need to transfer by road to each mountain along the way. Included in the trip: 1. Professional event organisation 2. Qualified mountain leaders 3. Transport between Manchester and Ben Nevis, with pickups en route 4. Transport between the Three Peaks 5. Drop offs between Snowdon and Manchester after the event has finished 6. One nights’ accommodation with breakfast 7. Packed lunches for each peak 8. Group first aid kit with qualified first aiders 9. Completion certificate to prove you did it! Registration fee: £150 plus £650 minimum recommended sponsorship. The cost for the trip comes from the sponsorship, and represents no more than 50% of the money raised. If you want to register and help SPACE raise the money for their new Space Centre, go to the SPACE Three Peaks Challenge webpage where you can get more detailed information on the event, and to register for the event. This event is hosted by www.MaximumAdventure.com.
